Cape Town Event Safety Officers & Event Permits

Service

SASREA-compliant safety officers, event permit applications, and event risk assessments that get your event approved and keep it safe. From single day activations to major public events.

Service Overview

SASREA Compliance Without the Stress

If your event expects more than 2,000 attendees, the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act (SASREA) applies to you. That means a formal event permit, an appointed event safety officer, a risk assessment, and an event safety plan that satisfies the authorities. Smaller events are not off the hook either, as municipalities and venues increasingly require the same documentation before they give you the green light.

Ransom Safety takes the entire compliance process off your plate. We supply qualified, experienced event safety officers, compile your event risk assessment and safety plan, and manage your event permit application from submission through to approval. Whether you are staging a festival, sporting event, concert, or corporate activation, we make sure your event meets every SASREA requirement, so you can focus on delivering an unforgettable experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SASREA Act?

Any event attended by the public may require a permit from your local municipality, and events with more than 2,000 attendees fall directly under SASREA. Requirements vary by city and venue, which is why we assess every event individually and confirm exactly what applies to you.

The Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act 2 of 2010 (SASREA) is South African legislation that governs safety at sports, recreational, religious, cultural, and entertainment events. It sets out the requirements for event permits, safety planning, and the appointment of an event safety officer.

An event safety officer is responsible for the overall safety of an event. They oversee the safety plan, coordinate with SAPS, medical, and security services, conduct inspections during build up, and remain on site to manage safety throughout the event.

Our event safety officers hold recognised health and safety qualifications and have hands-on experience across festivals, sporting events, concerts, and corporate events. Every appointment is made formally in terms of Section 4 of SASREA.

Most municipalities require applications to be submitted well in advance of the event date, and larger events need more lead time. We recommend contacting us as early as possible so there is enough time for the risk assessment, safety plan, and permit approval.
